College App Essay Coaching

Easing the burden of college prep. Creating more peace between parents and students during this exciting, tender, and emotionally charged transition period.

Writing Support for Common App Essays and Supplemental Essays

Although I love working with students from the "I have no idea what to write about" phase to the finished product, I offer as much or as little pre-writing, feedback, and revision work as needed. I do not steer the topic choice or the student's natural writing voice unless there is a compelling need to do so. I believe in encouraging what works well in my students' writing while helping them strive to tell their stories and share their experiences and growth potential in the most effective and engaging way possible. While perfection is never the goal, I want them to feel good about their work and have the best chance of being accepted into their college of choice.

Decision-Making Support

If a student comes to me without a clear idea of where they want to go to college, I can help them create a college list based on financial needs, geographical and size preferences, academic and career leanings, and social-emotional needs. Additionally, I find that some students make important discoveries about themselves and what they want through the process of my pre-writing exercises, such as the values activity, and throughout the process of completing their essays, both the personal statement and any supplemental essays required.

Summer Personal Statement
Boot Camp (In-Person or Virtual)

The Common App personal statement is the heart and soul of your college application and can be incredibly intimidating. I offer group summer essay workshops for 2-6 students, lasting 4 hours for two days in a row. The goal is to walk away with a solid first draft. If working in a group towards a common goal sounds appealing, click the chat button below to schedule a time to chat or email me for more details, and we'll get the group workshop BootCamp Party started!

Organizational Support, Communication, and Meetings

My services are tailor-made to suit the needs of individual students, but I typically create a Google spreadsheet to manage deadlines and individual documents for each task, from research notes about individual colleges to brainstorming to completed drafts. I include parents in as much of the email and Google Doc communication as requested. During the height of the application season, one meeting a week is typical, working towards agreed-upon deadlines in between.

Cost:
- $50/hour for as-needed one-on-one services
-$250 Minimum Fee. (Gets you started for Five hours of coaching and editing.)
- Package Info Upon Request
- For Summer Boot Camp: $100 per student for a 4-hour summer Boot Camp Workshop Session. $175 If you sign up for both days.
(2 days are ideal to complete the first draft)
